Paleo Desserts

Desserts are an option that many people miss when going on a Paleo diet. It doesn’t have to be this way! This additional Paleo Desserts-blog is designed to help you create just that; mouth watering and healthy Paleo desserts that will make skeptics rethink their idea that a Paleo diet is boring or tasteless.
As long as the ingredients you choose to use are non-toxic and nutritious, the preparations can be as intricate as you want them to be and baking can certainly be incorporated as a part of your Paleo life. This doesn’t mean that the recipes have to be com- plex or hard to realize however. You’ll see that most recipes featured in this Paleo Desserts-blog are both simple to realize and require only a minimum of ingredients, all of which should be easily obtainable at your local grocery store.
Since most of the recipe presented here require only a few key ingredients, a special focus should be placed on sourcing high quality ingredients. A good example would be to look for local eggs produced from free-range and well-fed chickens. Another one would be to look for raw honey instead of the gener- ic pasteurized version that’s sold from large brands. Contrary to what many people believe, raw honey isn’t hard to find at all and every health food store should carry many different types produced from many different flowers. You’ll be able to really taste the difference between a generic honey and a lo- cal raw honey. Raw honey also has many potential health benefits that regular honey hasn’t.

 Important considerations
As I recommend on my Paleo Desserts-blog, Paleo Diet Lifestyle, sugar consumption as well as nuts and seeds con- sumption should be kept somewhat low for optimal health.
Of course, when it comes to desserts, sweet taste
comes to mind. We already know however that ex- cess sugar consumption is one of the main problem in today’s Western diets. This is why sweeteners have been kept to a minimum in the following recipes and, when possible, only the sweetness from the fruits themselves has been called for. When other sweet- eners than fruits are called for in the recipes, it’s only natural ones like honey and maple syrup. Remember that it’s excess sugar that should be avoided at all cost, so treating yourself from time to time with one of the sweeter preparations found here is perfectly fine and healthy. It might just as well be enough to help you stick to healthy eating habits when sweet cravings are high if you can allow yourself to indulge in healthy, but sweeter options here and there.
Many of the recipes in this Paleo Desserts-blog also call for some kind of nut flour, like almond flour for exam- ple. As with my advice on sugar and sweets, I can only recommend that foods baked with nut flours be kept for the special occasion, the weekly treat or the times when the temptation to go off track is high. When consumed in normal amounts, nuts are healthy, delicious and nutritious.
Everybody is different of course and if you have a lot of weight to lose, if you are still dealing with autoim- mune or inflammatory issues or if the taste of baked goods makes you binge and feel guilty afterwards, you should probably stay away from the sweeter op- tions presented here, at least until you’re health is in a place where you can indulge without problems.
If you are otherwise healthy, you can go ahead and give yourself the permission to enjoy those great tasting desserts made with natural ingredients. The desserts found here are also great for kids, who should still be kids and who should have the right to enjoy the food that they really love. They can even be implicated in the preparation process, an activity that most kids find really fun.
