Apple Dumplings

INGREDIENTS 
 • 6 apples, cored 
• 2/3 cup walnuts, chopped 
• 6 tbsp honey • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon 
• ¼ tsp salt • 3 tsp butter or clarified butter Syrup: 
• 2 cups apple juice 
• ¼ cup honey 
• ½ tsp cinnamon 
• 1/8 tsp ground cloves

PREPARATION
1 Preheat oven to 425 F 
2 In a medium pot over high heat, combine all the ingredients for the syrup. Bring to a boil, lower heat and allow to cook for about 3 minutes. Set aside for later use. 
3 In a small bowl, combine walnuts, honey, cinna- mon and salt. Take already cored apples and fill each with ½ tsp butter and an even amount of walnut filling. 
4 Divide dough into 6 evenly sized balls. Using a pastry roller, roll the balls out until they are about 8 inches in diameter. Place the apple on the dough and pull up the dough up the sides of the apple until it is completely covered. Pinch the dough closed. 
5 Once all apples have been covered in the dough, place spaced out on a baking sheet. Pour the syrup a top each dumpling and cook for about 40 minutes.
